Color is around us every day and as artists we try to express it. However, we can sometimes find ourselves in a color “rut”. Working with simple, but challenging exercises, plus demos and handouts, we’ll try some new approaches to our work. This will help us get out of the rut and understand more about capturing color.
Supply list
- Watercolor: cadmium red medium, cadmium orange, cadmium yellow light, cobalt blue, hookers green light, Windsor violet or equal. Plus ivory black and Chinese white
- Brushes, palette
- Old newspapers, old magazines, construction paper assortment with grey and assorted colors.
- White glue, paper scissors, small bag (for scraps)
- Small color wheel
- Small oil or watercolor painting of your own that needs “help”
About Dolores Andrew
Dolores Andrew is an artist and designer who creates work in a variety of media in both the fine art and the needle art disciplines. She holds a BFA in painting from Syracuse University and an MFA in Art Education from Maryland Institute College of Art. She is represented by several galleries, and her work has been accepted in juried shows throughout the United States, with both large works and miniatures. She recently retired as an Associate Professor of Art from Essex Community College in Baltimore County, Maryland. In the summer, she lives in Rehoboth Beach, where she has been on the summer faculty of the Rehoboth Art League for 27 years. She chaired the Outdoor Show for 20 years and illustrated the Cottage Tour Catalog also for 20 years.
