The art show takes place on the historic grounds of the Rehoboth Art League (RAL) just blocks from downtown Rehoboth Beach. Applications must be postmarked or received by Monday, April 2nd, 2012.
The Outdoor Show is juried in all mediums and the decisions are final.
Artist who were accepted in 2010 and 2011 are guaranteed placement and are not required to send images if they are still working in the same medium but must complete sections A, C, D & E of the application.
Artists who did not show in 2010 and 2011 must submit images of their work in CD format with the application and a non-refundable application fee of $10.
If accepted, you will be notified on or about May 4, 2012. Booth fees are due on May 18th. Refunds must be requested in writing before June 29th and no refunds will be issued after this date. A waiting list based on juried results will be kept and used to cover cancellations.
Booth Space
There are two types of display spaces available. Artists with two-dimensional work may request space along “snow” fencing. The fencing may be used alone or with grids to hang work. The space is 15 feet long on fence and you may come out six feet. Free-standing tent spaces are 11’ x 11’ and are located throughout the property.
In order to present a more professional appearance, all tents and canopies must be white.
Any artist erecting a tent along designated fence area will be asked to remove the tent and may become ineligible for following year’s show. No canopies are permitted in the tent area. All artists in the tent area must have and use a tent- no exceptions.
RAL cannot guarantee placement but will try to honor requests for specific spaces or a wish to be next to a particular person.
Artist Information
Applicants must be members in good standing with the Rehoboth Art League. Only one exhibitor allowed per space. Work must be original and conceived, designed and executed by the exhibitor. No commercially produced or kit items are permitted. Giclée prints must be identified as such, be limited with an emphasis on original work. RAL will monitor compliance to these rules during the show and any artists not complying will be asked to remove the work and can be asked to leave the show with no refund.
Artists must be present with the work on all days of the show. Only art you bring with you may be sold. No future art commitments can be charged. Patrons purchasing art work must pay for and take the works with them during the Outdoor Show. Any requests for refunds by the patrons must be handled by the artists and RAL will retain its commission from the original sale.
Each exhibitor will receive payment from RAL, less 25% commission after each event weekend. Exhibitors who take payments themselves will be asked to leave the show and will be ineligible for future shows.
Parking and unloading/loading artwork can be challenging and sometimes frustrating. Out of consideration for all artists and for smoother operations we strongly encourage artists to unload their vehicles within 30 minutes and then move their vehicles to the designated off-campus parking spot. Please do not bring your vehicle on campus until you are ready to load your vehicle. When loading at the end of the day artists must leave the RAL campus no later than 7 p.m. each day of both weekends. RAL staff will be busy with event responsibilities and cannot help with the breakdown of spaces. Artists participating both weekends can leave tents set up and will have through Monday, August 20th, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., to remove everything.
Weather Policy
The show is held rain or shine. In the event of rain, all exhibitors will be assigned a limited indoor space. Exhibitors may choose to remain outside. The Rehoboth Art League is not responsible for damage to artwork or display materials due to weather or unrelated incidents.
Artists’ Amenities
RAL provides a complimentary continental breakfast from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. each day of the show. Food service will be available during the show. RAL staff will take lunch orders and payment (cash only, exact change) from artists at check-in if you want to receive lunch delivered to your space. Typically, lunch costs range from $5 to $7. RAL will provide water to artists and their helpers at no charge.
Artists’ Receptions
On Saturday evening of each weekend artists are invited to attend a cocktail reception at the home of Henlopen Acre residents who support RAL in this way. Every artist will receive an invitation to the 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. parties, but please remember to RSVP by the due date to help us plan for enough food and drink.
RAL Campus Policy
ARTISTS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE CAMPUS UNTIL 8:30 A.M. BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY OF BOTH WEEKENDS. The Rehoboth Art League is a non-smoking campus. Anyone found smoking will be asked to leave immediately.
Promoting the Show
Getting the word out is critical for the success of the Outdoor Art Show. RAL invests in paid advertising and online promotion. With your help we can draw patrons to the show. On the application in section D we offer ways you can help.
