ANDREW, DOLORES M. -
Dolores has actively pursued art for more than 35 years as a
freelance artist, art activist, and teacher, and is a charter member
of the Maryland Pastel Society. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree from Syracuse University and Master of Fine Arts from
Maryland Institute College of Art. She recently retired from Essex
Community College, where she was an Associate Professor of Art for
25 years. Before retiring in 2006, she was the Superintendent of
Fine Arts at the Maryland State Fair for 20 years. Her work has been
accepted in juried shows throughout the United States. Dolores has
written and illustrated three books, as well as several magazine
articles on textile subjects, and is a Master Judge of Needlework.
In 2005, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National
Academy of Needlearts. For the past 14 years Dolores has been the
Chair of the RAL Outdoor Show.
BARTLEY, MICHELE L. - After completing her student teaching
in Australia, Michele received her degree in Education from the
University of Delaware. While her degree includes coursework in
Elementary Education, Special Education, Early Childhood
Development, and English as a Second Language, Michele also took
classes in photography, metals, Art History, poetry and children's
literature. She has taught Special Education in Delaware, and
Special Education and Kindergarten in Hawaii. Michele returned to
her hometown Lewes, Delaware, where she became project manager for
Seaport Ventures, and designed and created stained glass window
panels for Victorian homes. She also was an artist-in-residence for
VSA Arts of Delaware, teaching art to students with special needs.
Throughout her teaching career, she has taken various jewelry
classes in Delaware, Maui, and Florida. After teaching over 10
years, Michele went back to school and received her Graduate
Jeweler's degree from the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San
Francisco. She is now designing and creating her own line of jewelry
- Michele Sol. Michele's jewelry is made from silver, copper,
enamels, found objects, bit of memories, imagination and aloha. She
is a member of the Rehoboth Art League and loves encouraging young
students to explore their own imagination while creating unique
pieces of art.
BARTMAN, WALTER - Walt received his MFA in painting and art
history from American University. He was awarded a Fulbright
Fellowship to study painting in Belgium and Holland. He has been
featured on the CBS-TV program "Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood"
and has received a number of awards for his painting and teaching.

BAXENDELL, JULIE - Julie received her diploma from The
Philadelphia College of Art, now known as The University of The
Arts. Along with many other graphic design jobs, Julie spent 28
years designing and illustrating The Green Scene magazine for The
Pennsylvania Horticultural Society in Philadelphia. After retiring
she moved to Delaware and began her painting career. Her early work
was mostly in watercolor, then she became interested in working with
acrylics. In 2002 Julie was the recipient of a fellowship grant from
The Delaware Division of the Arts as an established professional. In
2003 she received a fellowship from The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation
for a four-week residency at The Virginia Center for the Creative
Arts. While there she experimented with a different way to paint
with acrylics. Julie is also a painting instructor for The Southern
Delaware Academy of Life-Long Learning. She is an award winning
painter and has participated in many art exhibits including numerous
solo shows.
BERNHARDS, BOB - Bob has studied under a number of top
Asian-American artists. He has taught numerous classes and workshops
to hundreds of students and is on the faculty of the Chinese School
of Reston, VA. In 2004, Bob's painting entitled "Old Tiger" was
awarded a prize at the Sumi-e Society of America's national
exhibition by judge Shozo Sato of Japan. Mr. Sato, who has himself
received the Zuihosho Medal (highest national honor) from the
Emperor of Japan, said that Bob's painting reminded him of the
paintings of the ancient Zen monks in its simplicity and power. Bob
lives in Sterling, VA.
BRAGG, GWEN - Gwen is a member of several watercolor groups,
and a full signature member of the National Watercolor Society. She
currently teaches watercolor at The Art League, Alexandria, VA. Gwen
received her Master of Fine Art from James Madison University in
Virginia. She has won numerous awards and has her artwork in
collections such as those of the National Institutes of Health,
Richard Blands College, James Madison University, and Phillip
Morris. She will be having a solo show at Strathmore Hall in
Rockville, Maryland, in January 2008.
BURSLEM, ALAN - Since 1976, ceramic artist and teacher Alan
Burslem has been designing and creating a diverse line of high-fire
pottery and sculpture in the Historical Village of Arden. In his
pottery and sculpture, Burslem Stoneware, Alan produces stoneware
and porcelain ceramic art from powder to the finished piece. Alan
graduated from West Virginia University with a BFA from the
University of Delaware with a MFA.
CAMANN, JIM - Jim Camann was born in North Tonawanda, New
York. He attended the Albright Art School and The State University
of New York at Buffalo, New York. He graduated in 1956 with a BS
degree in Art Education. He was a graphic and exhibit designer for
IBM. After retiring, he studied watermedia painting with various
workshop instructors. Jim now paints full time and has been a
workshop instructor for many years. He has studios in Coopersburg,

COLLARD, ELIZABETH - Elizabeth Collard, an award-winning
artist, is a member of the Delaware Watercolor Society, the Rehoboth
Art League, and is a juried signature member of the Baltimore
Watercolor Society and Potomac Valley Watercolorists. She is also a
member of Silk Painters International (USA) and the Guild of Silk
Painters (UK). In addition to working in watercolor, she also
creates original paintings on silk, and wood surfaces. Along with
her large watercolor paintings, she creates original watercolor
jewelry, silk wearing apparel, and wall panels, "Garden Fence" wall
hangings, wall murals, floor cloths and painted furniture. She has
been teaching watercolor classes at the beginning and intermediate
levels since 1998. Her absolute conviction that watercolor or any
type of painting is a skill to be learned and not one that you are
necessarily born with is at the root of her teaching. She encourages
everyone with an interest to give it a try. She believes
wholeheartedly that you get out of watercolor painting what you put
into it. Her efforts haven't gone unrewarded. She operates her own
company, Fleur-de-Lis Studio, and is very happy with the frequent
sales of her original art. Her works are included in numerous
private collections through out the United States and Europe.
Several fine arts and specialty shops in Maryland; Washington, D.C.;
Virginia; Florida; Brussels, Belgium; and Stuttgart, Germany have
carried her work. She is represented in the American Craftworks
Collection in Annapolis, Maryland.
DASHIELL-OHOTNICKY, LYNDA - Lynda is a self-taught designer/metalsmith.
Her continuing education includes Frog Hollow- The Vermont State
Center for Craft; Interlaken School of Art, Lenox, MA; New Approach
School for Jewelers, Virginia Beach, VA; and the Jewelers School,
Florence, MA. A member of the Precious Metal Clay Guild, Lynda was
awarded certification from the guild in July 2004. She has been
teaching classes in jewelry making and PMC in Vermont, Delaware,
Maryland, and Virginia for the past five years.
DAVIS, ANDIE - Andie has been working as a potter since 1999,
when she founded her first studio in Berlin, MD. She graduated with
a BA in biology and English literature from Salisbury University,
but chose to follow her minor rather than her major into the field
of fine art. She began exhibiting her work in 1999 at Hot Soup
Gallery in Philadelphia, PA, and has since shown in galleries
throughout the East Coast, with great success. In her first year
alone, Davis was featured in the prestigious Emerging Artists 2000
at the Finer Side Gallery, and was awarded a solo show by the
Worcester County Arts Council. Since then, she has shown and sold
her work throughout the region. Her miniatures, wheel thrown to
scale, are collected by dollhouse aficionados throughout the world.
Andie works in both stoneware and porcelain. She creates and mixes
her glazes herself, and fires her work to temperatures that allow
each piece to be dishwasher, microwave, and low oven safe. She
considers herself a studio potter, as she creates each bowl,
platter, or vase as an individual work of art, and does not
duplicate her pieces for mass resale. Andie owns her own pottery
studio, Handful of Earth, in Laurel, DE, where she currently works.
(The name Handful of Earth is pulled from Andie's favorite poem,
written by Pablo Neruda.) She teaches students of all ages at the
Art Institute & Gallery in Salisbury, MD.
DE BOER, BETTY - Betty possesses a M.ED in Education and
Psychology from the University of Delaware and is a graduate of the
Barnes Foundation, Merion, PA. Betty is a member of the Rehoboth Art
League, the Dover Art League and the Studio Group, Inc., which is
located in the Howard Pyle Studio in Wilmington. She has received
several awards for her work, has taught watercolor classes at the
University of Delaware Academy of Lifelong Learning, and gives
workshops at various art leagues in the area. Betty's artwork
appeared on the cover of the 2002 "Lewes Visitor Guide" which the
Chamber of Commerce produces annually.
DEFIORE, JOANNE - Joanne attended Miami University in Oxford,
Ohio, and the Ohio School of Fine Art. Her love of calligraphy began
in high school under the tutelage of a nun. Joanne continued her
studies and developed her own style of calligraphy that combines the
traditional letterforms of the past with a contemporary touch.
Joanne is a member of the Washington Calligraphers Guild and
maintains her membership in the Western Reserve Calligraphers Guild
of Cleveland and the National League of American Pen Women. Locally,
she is a member of the Rehoboth Art League and the Village
Improvement Association, which produced a cookbook that she
illustrated.
EDINGER, CARRIE IDA - Carrie Ida Edinger is the recipient of
the 2003 Emerging Artist Fellowship in Delaware for works on
paper/printmaking. She exhibits her work regionally and nationally
in juried and solo exhibits. Edinger received her BFA from the
University of Delaware with a concentration in printmaking and
fibers. She teaches her printmaking workshop locally and is involved
with visiting artist programs with the Delaware Center for the
Contemporary Arts and the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware.
GARRITY, BRUCE - Bruce is a representational painter who uses
the abstract properties of painting to create painterly visions of
landscape, still life, and figures. He has been an instructor at
several regional colleges and universities including Rutgers
University in New Jersey and the University of Delaware. His work is
featured this summer in the Exhibition: "As Safe as Yesterday Is" in
the Tubbs Gallery. His work was shown in the Homestead in the summer
of 2003.

HOROWITZ, LARRY -
Larry Horowitz is a painter from New York who specializes in
capturing the emotional qualities found in landscapes all over the
world. From Mt. Fuji in Japan to the black sand beach at Vik in
Iceland, he paints on site to capture the main event that truly
gives his art a sense of place. He shows all over the United States
with recent one-person exhibitions at AerieArt Gallery in Rehoboth
Beach and in Houston, San Francisco and New York City. His
philosophy of teaching is to enhance and develop each student's
unique and artistic voice. With a BFA in painting from SUNY
Purchase, he was an artists apprentice for six years for Wolf Kahn

HORTON, CONNIE - Connie's work hangs in private collections
in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Educated at the State
University of New York at New Paltz, she majored in art history and
painting, later attending the Fashion Academy in NYC and the
Philadelphia Art Institute. Connie had a career as a fashion
designer for various firms. Her paintings have been exhibited in
museums and galleries in Berlin, Bangkok, throughout the Eastern US,
and at the Kent Art Association, of which she served as president.
Connie is a retired teacher, having taught in Millbrook, NY, and at
international schools in Berlin, Scotland, Santo Domingo, and
Bangkok.
KLINEFELTER, ANNE - Anne received her diploma from the
Maryland Institute of Art and studied at the American School of Art,
Architecture and Music in Fontainebleau, France. She has exhibited
locally and participated in many regional shows, winning numerous
awards. Having previously worked in advertising and as part owner of
a gallery, Anne now works almost daily in her home studio.
LEAR, KATE - Kate has been working with clay for more than
thirty years. She received her BA from the University of Delaware.
Kate conducted pottery classes for Newark Parks and Recreation and
currently teaches in her private studio.
LOWE, HEIDI - Heidi made her first ring in high school and
has been hooked on jewelry making ever since. After graduating from
the Maine College of Art in Portland, ME, and receiving her M.F.A.
in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from the State University of New York
in New Paltz, Heidi re-located to New York City. Originally from
Rehoboth Beach, Heidi inherited her creativity from her mother, an
artist and local teacher, and her sense of three-dimensional
construction from her father who built houses. Using glass and metal
components, she creates jewelry with structure and color. Her work
is unique, open to interpretation, adding a light-heartedness that
makes her jewelry fun to wear. Heidi recently moved back to Rehoboth
Beach and opened a contemporary jewelry gallery, located at 328
Rehoboth Ave., featuring her work as well as the work of many other
international jewelry artists.
MOTT-LYNN, MARK - An art teacher at Indian River High School.
Mark has both a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Arts degree.
MURPHY, BRIAN - Brian Murphy started his painting career in
California where the California Impressionist movement touched his
creative soul. Soon he was "plein air" painting the landscape that
inspired so many early California painters. Before long Brian began
teaching at the Palos Verdes Art Center. His students learned how to
"loosen up" their technique and discovered how to paint with a
"limited pallete". Brian has exhibited his work in galleries in
California, Oregon, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. In
addition to showing in galleries, Brian participates in Art
Festivals all over the country. He has won numerous awards and his
paintings have found collectors worldwide.
He teaches painting classes in Newport News and Hampton, Virginia,
and workshops in Hilton Head, South Carolina and in the Blue Ridge
mountains of North Carolina. This past July, Brian led a group of
painters to Ireland.

MURRAY, JOHN C - John's goal has been to pursue, preserve, and
teach the traditional forms and techniques of etching and mezzotint.
While a Resident Artist for five years at the Montpelier Arts Center
in Laurel, Maryland, John taught workshops and classes in
printmaking. This former President of the Maryland Printmakers, Inc.
has been active in the promotion and education of printmaking and in
the showing of works in galleries across Maryland and into the
downtown Washington, D.C. area. Although benefiting from a handful
of workshop classes by some excellent teachers over the years, John
is primarily self-taught. A background of many years as a technical
trainer and a seminar leader uniquely qualifies John as one who is
able to clearly explain printmaking techniques and processes.
SERRATORE, NICK - Nick was born and raised in Abington, PA.
He graduated from the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia and from
Wilmington University. In the past three years he has had four solo
exhibitions, participated in many charitable events and won numerous
awards for his pastel landscapes. He is a member of the Pastel
Society of America located in New York, NY, and is currently working
on his master’s degree in elementary education. Nick resides in
Lewes working as a full-time artist.
STAMM, NANCY - Nancy Stamm is a graduate of the Minneapolis
School of Art. She owns and operates her own gallery in Historic
Downtown Carlisle, PA. Nancy Stamm's Art Galleria features oil
paintings and watercolors reflecting Nancy's skills as an artist.

STOCKLEY, SHARON - Sharon is a full-time studio artist from
the Eastern shore of MD., who works with torch and kiln worked glass
and metals. Silver, copper, steel, aluminum, brass gold and scrap,
metals are combined with melted formed glass to create sculpture for
the home and garden as well as one of a kind wearable art. Sharon
holds a BFA in fine arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art
in painting and life drawing and has taken classes in glass
beadmaking at Touchstone Center for The Arts in PA. She is self
taught in metal work and jewelry by a lot of experimentation and
trial and error. She teaches art jewelry, class beadmaking, and
glass fusing classes privately and through art centers. Her work is
in private collections across the country, England, Japan, and
Australia. Sharon enjoys showing students how to play with fire and
create beautiful things. She shows in galleries and exhibits mainly
in the mid-Atlantic region. She is a member of Friday Morning
Artists, Talbot County Visual Art Center, Mid-Atlantic Smiths
Association, and Rehoboth Art League.
SWANSON, CYNTHIA - Cynthia is a B.F.A. graduate from the
University of the Arts, where she majored in painting. She has been
teaching adults since 1984 for the State of Delaware, State of
Pennsylvania, Delaware Art Museum, Center for the Creative Arts in
Yorklyn, Newark Art Alliance, and the Rehoboth Art League. Cynthia
also offers private art classes at her studio. As an active artist,
Cynthia has participated in art shows and galleries throughout
Delaware and Pennsylvania. She is a member and participating artist
at The Center for the Creative Arts, Delaware Foundation for Visual
Art, Rehoboth Art League, Tideline Gallery, The Total Picture, and
the Chadds Ford Gallery. Her work has also been shown at the
Delaware Art Museum Faculty Show and purchased for numerous public
and private collections. Cynthia has also been a juror for art shows
in Delaware since 1995. Through the years, her watercolors have
received art awards, the most prestigious being the "Art in
Excellence" award.
VAN GILDER, BILL - A professional potter for more than 30
years, Bill van Gilder began his clay work as studio apprentice to
the late Byron Temple at age 15. During the following years, he
apprenticed in Ireland and England, and graduated from Harrow School
of Art, Studio Potters, London. He later established two large
production potteries in Southern Africa (Lesotho & Swaziland) under
the auspices of The World Bank. Bill returned to the U.S. in 1979
and established a studio and gallery atop South Mountain in Central
Maryland, which he continues to operate today. Van Gilder has served
on the faculty of The Art League, Alexandria, VA, and is
founder/director of The Frederick Pottery School, Frederick, Md. He
currently leads workshops on pottery forming, decorating, and firing
techniques, as well as workshops on kiln building. He has recently
designed a new line of professional potter's tools available through
retailers nationwide. Van Gilder also writes a regular column on
teaching techniques for Clay Times magazine, and is the creator and
host of Throwing Clay, a DIY Network television series about making
pottery. His clay work is exhibited and held in collections
worldwide. It has been featured in ceramics periodicals including
Clay Times, Ceramics Monthly, Ceramic Review, Ceramic Art (China),
Sgraffito (S. Africa), and books including 500 Teapots and High Fire
Glazes (Lark Books), Salt Glazing (A&C Black, London), and The Art
of American Ceramics (Krause Books). Van Gilder recently authored
Wheel-Thrown Pottery, a cooperative book venture from Lark Books and
the DIY Television Network.
WHITEHEAD, BEA - Bea majored in art at Rosemont College and
taught elementary school for twenty five years. Now a full-time
basket maker, she has won recognition for her work on the Eastern
Shore, including the 1996 RAL Members' Craft Show. She sells in
various arts and crafts stores in Delaware, Maryland, and
Pennsylvania.
WHYE, TERRY - Terry Whye enjoys a career in ceramic sculpture
and pottery in her rural Maryland studio: Whye Clay Works. WCW is
also a teaching studio with year round classes for youth and adults.
An arts educator for over 30 years, Terry is a recipient of an
Artist in Education Grant by the Maryland Arts Council and a member
of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. Her
nationally exhibited work has been highlighted in Ceramic Art and
Perception, American Crafts and Ceramics Monthly magazines.
YANCHA, LYNNE - Lynne Yancha has achieved national
recognition, as she is a signature member of four national art
societies, including the American Watercolor Society, the
Knickerbocker Artist in New York, the Catherine Lorillard Wolf Art
Club, and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society.
Yancha was included in Speaking For Themselves: The Artists of
Southeastern Pennsylvania, written and published by Daphne Landis in
2003. Her methods and work has also been featured in SPLASH:
America's Best Contemporary Watercolors, and SPLASH II: Watercolor
Breakthroughs, published by Northern Light Books.
ZIKA, CAROL - Carol Zika holds an MA in art education from
the University of Illinois. A versatile and inspirational teacher,
she offers private and group lessons to students ages 9 to 90+ in a
variety of media. She teaches watercolor for the Community College
of Baltimore County, a full schedule of studio classes through
Howard Co. Recreation and Parks, summer workshops at Ghost Ranch in
New Mexico and classes in her home studio. She welcomes visiting
artist engagements.
