Art History: Pre-Raphaelites and The Arts and Crafts movement

Class Information

The Industrial Revolution started in Great Britain in what came to be called the Victorian Age. Along with the innovations and inventions of the time, came a backlash from a part of the public who longed for simpler more nature oriented lives. This was the premise of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood of painters, led by Dante Gabriel Rossetti. In the field of design, this was shown in a style called the Arts and Crafts Movement, led by William Morris. This influenced architecture, pottery, silver, glass, and all areas of design. Let’s have a discussion about this time and it’s relevance to life then and now.
