Color Theory

Class Information

Color Theory is the backbone of painting.  When you move from drawing to painting you increase your variables.  You are now not only having to work with value but with intensity, and temperature as well as various hues.  Understanding how color works helps you make sense of all of this.  The color wheel is at the heart of all color theory.  We will discuss the color wheel and how to use it.  We will discuss color and its relation to value, hue, intensity, and temperature.  We will go over the effects of simultaneous contrast, how color relates to atmospheric perspective, color harmony and its relation to analogous colors and complementary colors.
