Intermediate Foundations of Wheel Throwing

Class Information

This 6-week intense wheel throwing class will focus on learning to make “tight” pots. We will concentrate on the foundations and techniques for throwing tall cylinders. You will learn to use your tools to make better pots. There will be a 30-minute demo at the beginning of each class to demonstrate various throwing techniques such as double ribbing, re-centering rims, collaring in without making a wonky rim and all the other little tricks I use to pull tall cylinders. There will also be demos teaching how to trim the cylinders you throw. Requirements for this class: You must be able to easily, consistently and quickly center, open and pull a 3-4” tall x 3” diameter cylinder with a 1- 1.25 lb. ball of clay.
