Works by G.W. Thompson
June 14, 2019 - July 21, 2019
“Vicissitudes” encompasses a year’s worth of daily paintings in which ideas are formed, mulled, tested, changed, lending to and inspiring other artistic endeavors. The daily production of a finished image has been an exploration not only of successive practice and building of skills but an illumination of the effects of changing phases of environment and emotional conditions.
Painting from his home studio in Lewes, Delaware, G.W. Thompson creates abstract images that focus on environmental issues. He studied studio art and has a BA in Fine Art from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Although G.W. was born and raised in Lewes, he has only recently moved back to the area and transitioned from a career in accounting and IT to become a full-time artist. Beginning in 2016 G.W. has been a part of many group and juried shows at the Rehoboth Art League. In 2018 G.W. became a RAL Board of Trustees member and his work has been on display at the Peninsula Gallery in Lewes. He is a member of Delaware By Hand and is also one of this year’s recipients of the Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship Emerging Artist Grant.
