Artist Statement

“Amend” consists of a series of engravings and wearable pieces that investigate the idea of mending in all its forms. What is it to alter truth through modification, deletion, and embellishment? The current body of work explores a personal story and interconnection to a larger narrative. Heidi Lowe employs jewelry as her medium of choice for its inherent connection to the body and intimacy. Within her jewelry she uses ancient techniques such as engraving and silver-point drawings to investigate family, forgiveness and loss. Her current work looks at the long lost idea of mending as a metaphor for healing.
