“Driven to Abstraction” is Rosemary Connelly’s way of expressing her affinity for design, composition and color in images that are, what she refers to as “pure design.” Her graphic design background is evident in her work, that until recently has been demonstrated by watercolor with pen and ink drawings, on paper and in watercolor journals. This collection is a departure from those images captured from life, but while purely abstract in nature, they also suggest a sense of time and place, and the joy of art creation.

Rosemary Connelly studied fine art, drawing, painting and graphic design at Arizona State University and worked for over 20 years as a professional graphic designer. Two years living and painting in Italy with her late husband Bob, fulfilled a dream to “live cheap and make art,” living a simple life focused on experiences, not material things. Travel remains an integral part of her life and work. She has exhibited throughout the state, winning awards for her watercolors.

Rosemary practices and teaches the art of Watercolor Journaling and Urban Sketching and has taught workshops around the country and all over the state of Delaware.

A Mispillion Art League board member, a member of the Rehoboth Art League and a founding member of Urban Sketchers DE, for five years she has chaired The Big Draw Festival DE, part of a world-wide celebration of art, presented by Mispillion Art League.
