Art has played a transformative role in healing, exploring what is close and accessible, while helping quiet pain and frustration. In addition, practicing mindfulness has enabled focusing through the fog, satisfaction of observation, and led to new critical awareness. Through this, my images have become increasingly complex, using advanced computational techniques to study objects often unnoticed. While many are clearly abstract, all share an intense focus, minimization, and search for unique elements. Knowing the subject is less important than creating a spark of inquisitiveness, I hope these images help trigger curiosity, critical thought, and creativity.
Andy Gordon specializes in abstract and minimalist images ranging from tiny objects to landscapes. He uses advanced imaging techniques to capture high levels of detail and depth, emphasizing the shape, form, and texture of his subjects. He received formal training at the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Photojournalism and a Masters of Science in Printing Technology. Gordon is also a partner in InkjetInsight.com, a media organization providing information and analysis on production inkjet printing.
