“Despite all of our differences, we are connected as spiritual beings, here to experience the world in all of its startling contrast and beauty. My art serves as an important means to examine our physical and spiritual journey. Visual metaphors of portals and passages are repeated in my works. Lines representing trails are obscured, broken and reconnected, mapping paths of our deliberate choices and that of chance. My creative process reflects this same concept. Painting with hot encaustic wax means accepting and allowing that the materials will often lead the way. The result of this practice is a balance and tension between the elements of my deliberate artistic choices, and the physical property of the paint.”
