Rebecca Raubacher

New Works

August 25, 2023 – September 24, 2023

Corkran and Tubbs Galleries

Rebecca Raubacher returns to the Rehoboth Art League with a new, expansive body of work, filling both the Corkran and Tubbs Galleries. Raubacher’s large-scale work ranges from drawings of the natural world and animal kingdom to figure paintings of psychological introspection. The artist’s relationship to paper and canvas is ever evolving as is the execution of mark making. Raubacher will incorporate a variety of mediums within a single composition for large paintings while images of the natural world may use only a black line on a white surface. This exhibit will consist of new work Raubacher has created in the last few years.

Rebecca Raubacher’s work is included in many private, corporate and public collections, among them; The Neuberger Museum of Art, State University of New York, Purchase, New York; The United States Embassy Collection and The NYEX Corporation, both New York, New York; The Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington Delaware; Bank of America, Charlotte, North Carolina; The Biggs Museum of American Art, The State of Delaware, Division of Libraries and The Delaware State University, all of Dover, Delaware.

The figure is caught in a suspended state, as if swimming through the composition. The subject seems to be unsure but not concerned with their position in the painting. The torso is casually twisted and the subject visually confronts the viewer as if seeking input. The background is abstracted black, vine like forms against a silver background. Raubacher’s exhibit will feature “The Fall” as well as many other subjects caught in visual and psychologically challenging compositions.
