Works by Laura Erickson
August 27, 2021 - September 26, 2021
Opening reception: Friday, September 27, 2021 (5-7pm).
This exhibition explores the natural and varying relationships between the body, mind and the subconscious, the water and the sky. These plaster and acrylic paintings are inviting the viewer to take a breath, quiet their mind and move into a place of contemplation. Inspired by the peacefulness found in nature, these works capture the movement and texture of the clouds, sky and water. These works transform the mood in the room and bring repose to the space, as well as the mind and body.
Laura Erickson is a full-time artist based in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She studied Studio Art at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and spent a semester in residence at The Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. She has exhibited locally and internationally.
Her creative process has evolved by experimenting with different techniques, mediums, colors and subject matters. Most recently diving deep into abstract landscapes and the mood that is brought forth.
“A spark ignited and I discovered my niche. Following my intuition, I found that I love painting textured, serene landscapes with peaceful, neutral colors. My paintings capture the relaxed, unwinding feeling of the coast and transport the viewer into a state of tranquility.”
