Howard Pyle (1853 – 1911) was an influential American illustrator, painter, and author often called the “Father of American Illustration.” He taught at the Drexel Institute (1894–1900) and founded his own school, the Howard Pyle School of Illustration Art (1900), nurturing the Brandywine School and mentoring famous artists like N.C. Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, and Jessie Willcox Smith. The Rehoboth Art League invites you to view the five works of art in its collection by Pyle.
