Kindred Flourishing brings together a series of silk paintings that imagine a conversation between two artistic traditions that were never meant to meet: the contemplative worlds of Song dynasty bird-and-flower painting and the psychological presence of Renaissance portraiture. For Li, painting is a conversation across time. This exhibition grows from that belief, asking what becomes possible when paintings from different centuries begin speaking to one another.
