The Paper Forest
Paper Art by Jennifer Hudson
June 14, 2024 - July 14, 2024
A Maryland based cut paper artist, Jennifer began her career as a watercolor painter after graduating from The Baltimore School for the Arts in 2014 with a focus in painting. In the years following she continued to paint but became interested in the world of contemporary paper art. Jennifer wanted to explore a medium that was more sculptural and textile based. She enjoys layering sheets of delicate hand cut paper together to achieve delicate lace-like works that display movement and texture. Everything is cut by hand using various sized X-acto knives. The love of nature is evident in her art. Hudson has always been an avid animal lover and enjoys documenting the natural world in her work which is mostly inspired by the landscapes and wild life around where she lives. The subjects primarily include foxes, birds, deer and other creatures native to north central Maryland. In her work it is her hope to capture the movement and spirit of the animals she portrays.
