Class Information
You will learn how oil paint works, when to use oil vs. thinner, how to layer paintings and the basics of glazing, toning, and mixing color. The instructor will provide the source photo and will work with each student individually and meet them at their current skill level.
Supply List
Gamblin or Winsor Newton Professional grade paints. You can bring the student grade if that is what you already
have, but you are advised not to buy them if you haven’t already done so.
NOTE: If you don’t have all the colors, don’t worry. We will make do.

Cadmium Orange
Cadmium Red Light
Cadmium Lemon (or Cadmium Yellow Light)
Alizarin Crimson Permanent
Burnt Sienna
Yellow Ochre
Manganese Blue
Ultramarine Blue
Dioxizine Violet
Ivory Black
A canvas or panel 11”x 14” or larger. (Bigger is easier than smaller.)
Cold Pressed Linseed Oil (or other type of Linseed Oil)
Gamsol (Turpenoid is acceptable) – But it must be one of those two.
If you have Palette Cups and a Washer Cup, bring them as well.
A Palette or Palette Paper Pad (If you are buying a palette pad, get gray if available, otherwise white is fine.)
Brushes
Bring a selection of your favorite brushes. You can do this whole class with just one small and one medium sized brush.
There is no need to buy any if you have some. If you do not have any brushes, please purchase:
• Round Bristle Brush in sizes 2 and 4
• Flat Bristle Brush in sizes 4 and 8 and 10
• If you have brushes, but not those sizes, don’t worry. We’ll make it work.
• My favorite brand for brushes is Rosemary Brushes—but bring or buy what you like.
• You can buy just one of each type and you will be fine.
