Class Information
The medium of soft pastel is perfect for the beautiful landscape, skies, and waters of the Eastern Shore. Working with the student’s own photo reference, Katie will guide the class through the steps of creating a pastel painting while learning a range of techniques including the structure of a painting – composition, design, and color theory. This class is appropriate for the beginner/intermediate student or someone who is familiar with pastel

Small sketchbook for studies
Graphite pencil or vine charcoal
Roll of paper towels
Backing boar (a piece of black foam core (16” x 20” or so)
Masking tape
