Class Information

Abstract representation is a style that simplifies a recognized form or figure without abandoning it completely. While extracting from reality, interpretive figurative representation simplifies the form and can be achieved by altered or exaggerated proportions.

  With clay we will create a self-standing narrative scene, which will be the platform for interpretive figurative forms ie. a human figure, several figures and/or animal forms.  Your imagination will create the storyline where these figures will sit or stand to complete your vision.  Before class begins, think about a scenario that you might like to create…An example might be, two figures interacting on a park bench or a human form interacting with an animal form.

 One prior class in The Figure in Clay would be helpful although not required.
